Jodi Lowther, PhD, LP, LSSP

Dr. Lowther graduated with her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas University in Austin then went on to obtain her masters in School Psychology at Trinity University. While at Trinity, she worked as a research assistant at The Psychological Corporation, aiding in the development of psychological and neuropsychological assessments for children and adults. After graduation, Dr. Lowther became a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology and worked in Dallas ISD’s psychological services department before returning to academia to pursue a doctoral degree in School Psychology with a specialization in Neuropsychology at Texas Woman’s University. As part of her education, she had several practicums, then summer employment, at Baylor Our Children’s House, an outpatient facility for children who sustained neurological injuries. Dr. Lowther completed her pre-doctoral and post-doctoral internships at Fort Worth ISD then an additional post-doctoral fellowship at Child Neuropsychology and Counseling Center conducting neuropsychological evaluations for children. She then returned to Fort Worth ISD where she created a neuropsychological assessment team, provided therapy and social skills training, served students from the Transitional Care Unit at Cook Children’s Medical Center, supervised masters and doctoral interns and staff, became the director of the American Psychological Services (APA) pre-doctoral program, in addition to completing psychoeducational evaluations and behavioral consultations. In 2006, Dr. Lowther became a Licensed Psychologist. In addition to working at Fort Worth ISD, she was a visiting professor at Texas Woman’s University, teaching graduate level courses on Advanced Behavioral Neuroscience and Neurodevelopmental and Genetic Disorders and participating in thesis and dissertation committees. She also served as an instructor for the KIDS, Inc. School Neuropsychology Post-Graduate Certification Program. In 2015, Dr. Lowther left Fort Worth ISD to create Brainstorm Learning, LLC with the goal to provide quality comprehensive neuropsychological and psychological evaluations for children, generate individualized, research-based interventions and recommendations, and educate parents so that they may best advocate for their child. She envisioned then formed a practice that contains dually licensed psychologists so that both medical and educational determinations can be made from these assessments.

Dr. Lowther’s publications have centered on attentional disorders and memory functioning in traumatic brain injury. She maintains membership in the Dallas/Fort Worth Association of School Psychologists (past treasurer), National Association of School Psychologists, Texas Association of School Psychologist, and American Academy of Pediatric Neuropsychology (graduate student mentor). She was awarded the Outstanding School Psychologists by the Texas Association of School Psychologist in 2004. In 2023, Dr. Lowther was recognized with the Longhorn 100 award by the University of Texas in Austin Alumni and Brainstorm Learning, LLC was identified as one of the 100 fastest growing Longhorn owned businesses in the world.

Personally, Dr. Lowther is married to her best friend of over thirty years and has one daughter. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing board games, cycling, and spending time with friends and family with her passion being traveling and travel planning.
