Joe Leeman, Ph.D.

Dr. Leeman earned his Advanced Graduate Studies degree in Applied Educational Psychology in 1999 from Northeastern University in Boston. In that same year, he relocated to Texas and completed his master’s internship in the Dallas Independent School District. While in Dallas ISD, Dr. Leeman participated in an extensive autism assessment training program, which fueled his continued interest in working with children with autism spectrum disorders. Dr. Leeman worked for various school districts in the DFW area before joining Fort Worth ISD in 2008. In 2015, Dr. Leeman obtained his Doctorate in School Psychology, with a specialization in neuropsychological assessment from Texas Woman’s University. He was active in supporting the American Psychological Association (APA) internship in Fort Worth ISD as a supervisor and helped coordinate data collection for the program’s re-accreditation in 2022. While serving in Fort Worth schools, Dr. Leeman was part of the core autism assessment team, and specialized in the differential diagnoses of autism, attention deficit, and anxiety disorders. In 2016, Dr. Leeman was invited by Dr. Lowther to provide assessment services for Brainstorm Learning as a post-doctoral fellow. In June 2023, Dr. Leeman officially retired from the public school system to join the team on a full-time basis.

In his spare time, Dr. Leeman enjoys spending time with his wife Ashley, traveling to Colorado to visit their granddaughters, and playing guitar. He and his wife are passionate about music and serve as volunteer entertainment coordinators for the annual Mayfest Celebration in Fort Worth. Dr. Leeman’s greatest accomplishment has been successfully raising his daughter Lillian through her teenage years. He is especially thankful for the many challenges she presented to his parenting which provided knowledge and experience more valuable to his profession than his many years of schooling.
